The 360 degree camera is a convenient and safety feature that is used while driving congestion on the road or in tight parking spaces
Over the past few years, many of the comfort and convenience as well as safety features – usually associated with luxury cars – have been adopted by mass market car manufacturers. These include a digital driver’s display, ventilated seats, and even a 360-degree camera. The latter has become so popular that it has reached the position of a hatchback in our market.
What is a 360 degree camera?
In short, it’s a useful feature that gives you an all-round view of your car and its immediate surroundings, making up for any blind spots and you don’t need to adjust your rear-view mirrors every time. Typically, they use a 4-camera setup, with one placed at the back (like a standard rear parking camera), one at the front (usually integrated into the grille design) and one each on the ORVM. The built-in software can integrate these into a 360-degree view, unlike the configurator on most automakers’ websites, so you can rotate them on your touchscreen infotainment unit, and it also allows for multi-camera viewing.

This feature is useful when you are in areas with a lot of parking or when driving on congested roads. Also known as ‘surrounding monitor’ or ‘surrounding view camera.’ The clarity and depth of view of a 360-degree camera improves as you move up in the price range, but even the cheapest ones are decent.
