100% electrified brand within 4 years?

After the Gran Turismo and the Gran Cabrio Folgore, Maserati will continue its path towards electricity.

Maserati was once known for its V8 engines whose recognizable sounds made every enthusiast’s dreams come true. But that’s it! The Trident brand claims that its entire range will be “fully powered” by 2028.
During the recently organized “Folgore Day”, The Italian manufacturer showed its electric offerings. But thermal technology is probably not dead yet.

Electricity everywhere in Maserati

Especially Grecale Folgore and GranTurismo Folgore. In just a few months, the Modena brand has expanded its range of electric vehicles. Now he has three. It comes from one luxury crossover to the more attractive convertible, the recently launched GranCabrio Folgore.
Next year, the electric MC20 should appear. So it will give Maserati customers a choice between a large petrol car and an electric version. Maserati shows no signs of slowing down on the subject. Electric conversions for the Quattroporte and Levante are also under development.
But there are also several other electric cars. Earlier this year, transalpine confirmed that it will soon have a fully electric range. With the Quattroporte’s replacement expected in 2028, it will be four years later than originally planned.
But until then, we expect the Levante’s successor to arrive in 2027. This steady stream of new electric products shows that Maserati is serious about growing its electric portfolio. But that’s no reason for brand purists to worry.

Electrons and batteries, but not only that!

If Maserati decided to embrace electric cars wholeheartedly, it would surely be announcing it by now. Last year, former CEO of Maserati America Bill Peffer said to our colleagues at CarBuzz what “The Maserati didn’t need to use all the electricity… At least, not yet.”
This indicates that Nettuno V6 will live beyond 2030. But we can easily imagine that it will be equipped with electronic aids. And given that several automakers have begun to focus on hybrids due to the low demand for electric vehicles, we can assume that Maserati will not make any difference.
It is less likely that the Italian company will become an electric car manufacturer. In any case, not at the moment.
Maserati took advantage of the first “Folgore Day” to present its 100% electric versions to its customers accustomed to V8s. The brand was trying to convince them that these electric cars were as worthy of a Trident as their eight-cylinder predecessors.
Therefore, the Italian manufacturer also took the opportunity to present its unique “Fuoriserie” program. While waiting for the transition to 100% electricity to be made, the V6 Nettuno should continue. For as long as possible, we hope.
