Vietnam’s VinFast begins selling electric bicycles in the United States

Vietnamese automaker VinFast Auto announced Thursday that it will begin selling its VF DrgnFly electric bike in the United States by the end of April with a list price of $2,599.

Following the launch of the bike at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2024, the VF DrgnFly sales launch confirms its great importance to the American market and its potential to be at the forefront of the global green transportation revolution, VinFast he said in a statement.

According to the statement, VF DrgnFly has an attractive appearance and high-tech features and strongly affirms VinFast’s commitment to bring exciting and intuitive mobility solutions to US consumers.

The launch also marks another step in VinFast’s expansion into the United States, the world’s most advanced electric vehicle market and consumer awareness of sustainable mobility.

It has been noted that the design of the bicycle is inspired by the image of a flying dragon in Vietnamese culture.

The VF DrgnFly has a wide bar, balloon tires and an expertly designed saddle, improving the riding experience on any type of ride.

The VF DrgnFly also uses a flat frame instead of a traditional tubular frame, boasting the bike’s unique aesthetic while prioritizing the balance between weight and durability.

This design approach, which required the use of advanced manufacturing techniques, demonstrates VinFast’s manufacturing capabilities.

As a smart electric bike, the VF DrgnFly uses a mobile app that allows riders to enjoy smart features, including multiple riding modes, ride statistics records, and custom mode unlocking/locking.

Over-the-air (OTA) software updates will ensure the bike is constantly enhanced to bring the best experience to users.

Powered by a 750W rear hub motor, single-speed gearbox, and torque sensor, the VF DrgnFly offers a smooth and responsive driving experience at top speeds of up to 28 mph (45 km/h).

The torque sensor adapts to each input, detecting changes in force up to 16,000 times per second, far surpassing the capabilities of traditional sensors found in conventional electric bicycles.

The VF DrgnFly has a range of up to 68 miles (110 km) on a single charge supported by an advanced energy optimization system that allows operators to travel longer distances.

The bike also comes with a home charger and a removable lithium-ion battery, which provides convenience to users.

“The official launch of VF DrgnFly in the US demonstrates our unwavering commitment to bring electric mobility to everyone,

“By providing a sustainable, smart, and personalized mobility option, we are embracing the green transportation revolution, paving the way for a healthier and more sustainable future,” said David Duncan, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, VinFast US.

Using VinFast’s range of smart electric vehicles, VF DrgnFly will offer a variety of sustainable mobility options and bring electric transportation closer to American consumers.

In addition to growing in key markets such as the United States, Canada, and Europe, VinFast is expanding to Vietnam’s neighboring countries in Asia such as India, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and the Middle East and Africa.

Outside of Vietnam, VinFast also aims to accelerate the construction of EV factories in the US and India, and will set up a factory in Indonesia.
