The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Buffalo takes an already impressive off-road truck to a whole new level. Built in partnership with American Expedition Vehicles, the Colorado features AEV badges, wheels, bumpers, and underbody to create the most capable pickup truck you can buy from the factory. Paying particular attention to the underside of the floor and stickers, customers should have peace of mind when traversing rough terrain, scratching, or breaking components on large rocks. However, that added protection with the AEV badge comes at a price.
While Chevrolet doesn’t have an official price for the 2024 Colorado Buffalo ZR2, dealers at a truck driving program attended by MC&T revealed that customers should expect the price to be around $10,000 more than the standard 2024 Colorado ZR2 trim. That means customers will be looking to spend around $60,000 USD for the Bison, which is about what customers will be paying for the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, possibly even more. But for that price tag, customers will get a very capable off-road vehicle.
The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado lineup has yet to be released, and the ongoing UAW strike is preventing any Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks from being built.
2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison: Details
AEV has given the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison an upgrade to its tire size with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. By comparison, the new Ford Ranger Raptor has 33-inch tires and are now the most you’ll find in the midsize truck class. As for the truck’s suspension, it still uses the same DSSV dampers as the regular ZR2, but the Bison gets Anti-Launch Control Dampers for the first time to improve the ride quality on the mixed terrain it will drive on. In addition, improvements in tire size and suspension result in a longer truck, meaning there are improvements in ground clearance, approach, and departure angles. In addition, customers will receive a victory-ready front bumper, which will further improve the off-road performance of the mid-size truck, should you or anyone else get stuck and need to recover.
The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison features a GM 2.7L I-4 Turbo High-Output DOHC engine, which produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque sent to its wheels via a Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission, as only. the standard ZR2. That’s less horsepower than the Ranger Raptor but the same torque. It will be up to the customers to decide which services best suit their needs and which they want to spend their money on.
