Alfa Romeo Milano gets another name that will make enthusiasts salivate

Alfa Romeo Milano was launched on April 10, 2024. Since then the website of Alfa Romeo it crashed several times due to the large number of visitors visiting the car installer at the same time. At least, that’s what Alfa Romeo says. Apparently among all the guests was Aldolfo Urso, the Minister of Economic Development of Italy, who was shocked by the name Milano.

Built in Poland

In Italy there has been a law since 2003 stating that Italian audio products must come from Italy. And the Milano is the first Alfa Romeo ever built outside of Italy, namely Poland. The city of Milan is not there, and therefore Alfa had to change the name of its latest crossover.

Because it all started with Alfa Romeo in Milan (the snake in the Alfa logo is still the symbol of the city), you can argue about whether the name is justified or not. But Alfa Romeo was not interested in political intrigues. After all, the site had to be up and running. And so Alfa Romeo decided to change the name of Milano to Junior.

Classic Alfa Romeo Junior

Lovers of the Italian brand (also called Alphaist ), of course he will have no problem with the name Junior. In 1966, Alfa Romeo launched the GT 1300 Junior, one of the most beautifully designed coupes the brand has ever produced. The early series is characterized by a slit in the front of the hood. This gave him the nickname ‘mailbox’ or ‘Scalino’, which means ‘step’ in Italian.

The GT Junior had to appeal to the younger target audience in the showroom and that is exactly what the new Alfa Romeo Junior has to do. Not with a 1290 cc gasoline engine with two camshafts and 89 hp, but with an electric drivetrain and as a small hybrid.
