KHS girls, Hennessey boys take 3rd place at Chisholm meet

Both the Kingfisher girls and Hennessey boys placed third overall at last Friday’s Chisholm Invitational.

KHS scored 89.5 points despite being without one of its top athletes this season.

Sophomore Scout Snodgrass was out with an illness, forcing coaches Kerri Lafferty and Shiloh Kannady to make many lineup adjustments throughout the day.

Addison Price filled in for Snodgrass in the 3,200 meter relay and Hannah Francis did the same in the 800 relay.

Joining Price were Kinley Taylor, Lily Lunsford and Mattie Slezickey as the team finished second behind Chisholm.

The 800 relay team of Francis, Slezickey, Taylor and Abbie Myers was fourth.

There was a general change for the mile relay team as Slezickey was the only regular running the race. Joining him were Francis, Chesni Newkirk and Talor Mecklenburg.

KHS was fifth in the race, one of which was Cashion’s.

The Lady Wildcats quartet featured Sierra McCracken, Abby Hobgood, Chevy Eubanks and Reese Williams.

The gold medal was the only one won by the county’s female athlete in the event, although there were many other medals.

For Kingfisher, Taylor placed second in the 800 meters and Lunsford was runner-up in the mile.

Bronze medalists for the Lady Jackets were Harper Evans in the two-mile run and Myers in the 400-meter run and long jump.

Cashion’s Hobgood, Eubanks, Madison Westerhoff and Williams were third in the 400 relay.

Sierra McCracken was the bronze medalist in the 800s, just behind Kingfisher’s Taylor; Williams was third in the 300 hurdles; and Megan Shafer took bronze in the shot put.

Cashion was fifth in the team standings with a score of 65.5.

Hennessey’s boys scored 71 points and Camdyn Richardson played a big part in that.

The Eagle junior placed in all four events and medaled in three of them, including winning the long jump.

He jumped 20 feet, 5 1/2 inches for the gold medal.

He was also part of two silver medal relay teams.

Joining him in the 800m relay were Gunnar Holder, Weston Smith and Kevin Trillo.

The mile relay team of Holder, Smith, Camdyn Richardson and Braedyn Richardson was also second.

The 400 relay team of Richardsons, Smith and Trillo placed fifth overall.

Also claiming individual silvers for Hennessey were Holders in the 300 hurdles and Brenden Mainard in the Revenge.

Cashion’s Gage Bedick earned gold as he led the field in the two-mile run.

Cashion scored 26 points overall. Bedick was also third in the mile and fourth in the 800.

Kingfisher got a medal from Jayden Vinot as the freshman was third in the long jump, one place ahead of teammate Kasen Blair.
