WEC / 6H of Imola – Two for BMW M4 GT3 / Team WRT

BMW and Team WRT came out on top in LMGT3 at Imola with a double win on Italian soil with their M4 GT3. Obviously, the Imola route suits WRT which already had two successes on the transalpine route in GTWC Europe with Audi (2020, 2022).

After the clear dominance of Manthey Pure Rxcing in Qatar and the vote won in Imola, we nevertheless expected the Porsche 911 GT3 R #92 to celebrate on Italian soil.

This is what happened during the first four hours of the six-hour race for Alex Malykhin, Joel Sturm and Klaus Bachler. As soon as the rain arrived, the Porsche crew suffered and it was the BMW M4 GT3 / Team WRT duo that took the upper hand. The Belgian team of Vincent Vosse and Yves Weerts performed flawlessly in this Italian meeting.

We had to wait until the end of the race to find out which of the number 46 or number 31 would win. In the end it was the number 31 of Darren Leung, Sean Gelael and Augusto Farfus who took the lead, ahead of the sister car of Maxime Martin, Valentino Rossi and Ahmad Al Harthy who won the race until the end of the race – following the car safety procedure. Under the scoreboard, the gap between the two BMWs is 23 seconds.

AF Corse puts the Ferrari 296 GT3 / AF Corse of Simon Mann, François Heriau and Alessio Rovera under the podium. Without the two penalties, the #55 could have hoped for a better than fifth place. Fifth place for the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 / Racing Heart of Daniel Mancinelli, Alex Riberas and Ian James.

Sixth place goes to the McLaren 720S GT3 / United Autosports of Marino Sato, Nicolas Pino and Josh Caygill.

In the Lexus and Akkodis ASP camp, we continue to study the 14th and 15th places for the Japanese GTs entered by the team of Jérôme Policand. Two Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs finished in the top 10 in 7th and 8th. A center race Aston Martin Vantage GT3/D completes the top 10.
