The Cadillac Lyriq officially arrives in France but at a high price: from 81,200 euros for the American electric SUV…

Cadillac is back in France. The American company has already tried to enter the European market several times… Free. But this time, Cadillac is back with a 100% electric model. For this “return”, the American company has chosen the Premium SUV segment. Indeed, the Lyriq will compete with the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron or even the EQE SUV from Mercedes.

Will you hesitate between BMW and Cadillac?

Obviously, with the size and “American-style” engines, the Cadillac lineup is not acceptable on the Old Continent. So the strategy is simple, the brand will sell a range of electric cars in Europe.
Therefore, there is no need to develop a specific model, but only to add a large market to its list. So it is with Lyriq that the American brand will arrive in our region. Remember that this is a large SUV with a length of 4.99 meters. It’s enough to hold its own against premium benchmarks like the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron and Mercedes EQE SUV.
And don’t worry about Cadillac, prices will match the competition. You will have to pay at least 81,200 euros to afford the SUV that comes to us from across the Atlantic. It’s still a little cheaper.
BMW is asking 84,200 euros for its iX, compared to 89,100 euros for a large SUV from Audi and 84,900 euros for Mercedes. But the European giants retain the advantage of fewer options… But not the price.

Less equipment, but more efficient?

So, if the 100% electric Cadillac has better equipment than its competitors, the prices seem similar to those of the American market. On the other hand, where he can hit hard, This is because the Lyriq is automatically equipped with all-wheel drive and two engines.
Total power: 528 horses. Not to mention that its engine is powered by a battery pack with a capacity of 102 kWh. For a slightly higher price, A competitor from Mercedes produces only 245 horses.
But his freedom is greater. German banner 568 km according to the WLTP approval cycle, compared to just 530 for the Lyriq. In other words, nothing bad, but nothing too interesting.
At this price, two trim levels are available at no extra cost: Luxury and Sport. The price/performance ratio will therefore probably be better in Cadillac, but in terms of image, the German giant is ahead.

All you have to do is wait to test it to find out if it is right and if it can scare the competition.
