This car has three times more cylinders than the Bugatti Chiron!

No, we didn’t suddenly become a Motorcycle Vision, but this colossus still intrigues us. It was a Kawasaki, which now has two strokes and 48 cylinders. Eat that, Bugatti Chiron!

Well, what is it? Whitelock Tinker Toy, apparently, though it hasn’t told us anything yet. We see at least a few elements of the regular Kawasakis and there is also said to be Honda Goldwing technology in it.

The Tinker Toy was built in 2003 by a certain Simon Whitelock, who entered the Guinness Book of Records with it (the Bugatti Chiron is also in it). And it will be street legal too.

Sixteen three cylinders

Its 4.2 liter 48 cylinder is made up of sixteen blocks (!) 250 cc three-cylinder three-stroke from Kawasaki, which are packed together in six rows of eight cylinders.

The Tinker Toy weighs 600 kg – so you don’t want to drop it – and uses a Kawasaki single cylinder (125 cc) as a starter. The 50 cc small block couldn’t get the 48 cylinder to work.

Shifting is done with a BMW transmission from the K100, although the Tinker Toy seems impossible to us, as you have to stretch your arms over the 48 cylinder to reach the steering wheel.

A mad inventor

Simon Whitelock is something of a mad inventor, because the Tinker Toy is not his first creation. He originally built an in-line seven-cylinder Kawasaki and also experimented with a nine-cylinder.

Bugatti Chiron Group

Whitelock Tinker Toy becomes it was auctioned on April 21 at Bonhams in Stafford, England. Expected income is between 47,000 and 70,000 euros. And that’s not what you’re buying a Bugatti Chiron for.
