Bugatti confirms the arrival of a remarkable engine for its future sports car

While Bugatti has signed the last 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 with the Mistral, the manufacturer is announcing a new engine for its next supercar. Good news for sports fans: it will always be warm.

If you follow automotive news avidly, you are no doubt aware that Bugatti has been close to Rimac in recent years. It was even the boss of the Croatian brand, Mate Rimac, who took control of the Molsheim company.

As Rimac specializes in 100% electric supercars, then we can legitimately wonder if the Chiron’s replacement would be electric.

Lightning on a Bugatti? Not yet

The manager then insisted a few months ago that no, even if he had announced new features and, above all, the end of the 1,500 hp quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine. This engine, as iconic as it is, was not 100% made by Bugatti.
The brand has been released from the vehicle bank of the Volkswagen group. And instead of Chiron, Bugatti will not start from scratchsince developing an engine, even for a car selling for seven figures, will wipe out any kind of profit.
Bugatti has just announced the engine of its future supercar, and it will again be a 16-cylinder, but with a different architecture than engineers chose V and no longer W. V16 in a supercar? We can already imagine the length of the future car, since this type of engine is much narrower than the W16 due to its architecture, but it will still be longer. A few models can boast of having installed a V16, for example the Cizeta V16T or the Cadillac Sixteen… and that’s about it.

An engine from Cosworth?

And as Mate Rimac declared, there will be little electrical support. This will be a first for Bugatti, which has never done hybrid technology. The first rumors indicate a partnership with engine manufacturer Cosworth, but the Molsheim company has yet to confirm anything. For now, we can only enjoy this engine through a short video posted on YouTube with an already impressive soundtrack.

You won’t have to wait too long to discover this trend, since Bugatti announced the presentation next June.
