Legendary drivers meet at the Alfa Romeo Museum


First with the 155 and then with the 156, Alfa Romeo literally dominated the top touring car championship. For almost 15 years and across Europe, the Italians worked at a high level under the leadership of Giorgio Pianta and, later, with the Nordauto/N-Technology team. The Alfa Romeo museum in Arese in Italy wants to revisit the history of this epic, this Sunday, April 21, by offering conferences given by the pillars of the motor sports department. And especially Sergio Limone, the Italian engineer, who distinguished himself with a winning season with Lancia in the rally and who continued his work with Alfa Romeo on the circuit. Other legendary names from this glorious period for Alfa Romeo will be present: drivers Fabrizio Giovanardi and Giorgio Francia.

Alfa Romeo’s first success

The first successes began in 1992, a few months after the launch of the project, with the victory of Nicola Larini in the Italian Superturismo championship with the 155 GTA, followed a year later by the DTM with the 155 V6 TI, thus beating his wife. Germany’s opponents on their own ground and break all records. This was followed by a win in the 1994 British Touring Car Championship and further victories in all regions of the world. After the exploits of the 155, in 1998, it was the turn of the 156 to continue on the path of success, winning 13 championships among drivers, manufacturers and teams in 10 years of work, and even winning in its last race in 2007, although the 156 was not have been released for a long time.
