Pirelli P Zero, two new and special tires for the Porsche Taycan

The house of Zuffenhausen has chosen Pirelli as original equipment to modify a new and very fast car Porsche Taycan. The tire specialist has developed in collaboration with the Teutonic manufacturer Pirelli the new P Zero R and P Zero Trofeo RS specifically for the Taycan Turbo GT, a sportier version of the 100% electric supercar.

Both covers have markings on their side The chosen one, which focuses on the application of a package of technological solutions developed specifically for zero-emission vehicles. The Pirelli P Zero R was designed for high-end daily driving, while the P Zero Trofeo RS is a semi-slick suitable for the track, but approved for road driving.

Pirelli P Zero R

The Pirelli P Zero R offered on the updated Taycan are the tires commitment to daily transportation and improve the distinctive characteristics and driving pleasure of the German supercar, offering the perfect combination of comfort and performance, without neglecting the best performance in terms of driving range.

These results were achieved due to the use of a two-ply carcass that makes the tire structure very resistant and able to withstand the weight placed especially on the rear side and the aerodynamic load and the presence of the battery. The use of these tires makes the car very stable at high speed and allows to control the violent speed that the Taycan GT is capable of, the example of electric motors. All this is also supported by multi-compound tread, created thanks to technology Resin Mixture patented by Pirelli that allows it to provide grip in a wide range of temperatures and road surfaces. Therefore, these tires allow the Taycan to travel at a very high level of performance without problems, even in the rain. Finally, the tread design increases the noise as much as possible, while the efficiency requested by Porsche has been achieved thanks to the combination of compounds and structure, which reduces the rolling resistance.

P Zero Trofeo RS

For Taycan GT owners who prefer use on the track, but also want to travel on the road, Pirelli has created the P Zero Trofeo RS. We are talking about one of the best performing tires in the Pirelli range: a semi slip road approved made of specially formulated compounds and derived from rally products. The new Porsche Taycan equipped with Trofeo RS tires offers superior performance when driving between curbs, on dry and wet surfaces and in terms of grip when cornering. The best results were achieved by the joint work between Pirelli and Porsche, which saw the cooperation of test driver Lars Kern. The latter improved the behavior of these tires by testing the Taycan GT at more than 300 km/h on the legendary circuit of Nürburgring. The design of these tires is specially designed to ensure fast and uniform heating along the entire surface, so it is no coincidence that the use of tires is not necessary even for the most demanding track sessions. To improve and speed up the development of the P Zero Trofeo RS, Pirelli Geometry Development was used which compares a very large number of profiles and tread patterns in a digital environment.
