From the Urban Mobility Conference, Volvo Car Italia embarks on a journey to raise awareness of sustainability issues and electrification. Dedicated to the theme of new urban mobility between sustainability, security, innovation and digitalisation, the event took place today in Milan, on the eve of the G7 summit on transport.
This kind of ‘green’ schedule for Volvo Car Italia will be prepared in the coming months through participation in various events throughout the country with the aim of communicating and interacting with an audience made up of individuals and companies.
“In recent years – commented Michele Crisci, president of Volvo Car Italia – sustainability has moved from the level of individual responsibility to that of corporate responsibility. In accordance with the requirements related to the energy transition, sustainability has also become an incredible opportunity of development for companies that have made it a brand value, as is the case with Volvo”.
Volvo Cars’ stated goal is to achieve 100% financing of green or sustainability activities by 2025, recognizing how finance plays an important role in promoting sustainable development.
“Research linked to new technologies – Crisci continued – and collaborative projects aimed at defining the context of future mobility, such as the Green City Zone in Gothenburg, have given and continue to give Volvo great opportunities for growth. Through the proposal of its strategy linked to electric mobility , Volvo plays the role of a modern company in the changing world of mobility”.
Michele Crisci’s speech was preceded by that of Fabio Orecchini, professor of Energy and Environmental Systems at the Guglielmo Marconi University of Rome and director of the Auto and Mobility Observatory of the Luiss Business School, which explained the context in which Volvo’s action takes place. place and be effective. In particular, two important joint projects in which Volvo is involved were mentioned.
The first is the Gothenburg Green City Zone, an area where the municipality of Gothenburg, together with Volvo Cars and other companies, can test new vehicle technologies and infrastructure. The second is the Mobility Innovation Destination Torslanda, i.e. a facility, which will soon be built, which will be considered a specific testing center for the development of vehicles and which is close to the center of Volvo’s operational activities in Gothenburg.
