So far absent from the automotive scene in Algeria, Kia and Hyundai are starting to make a comeback. This approach marks an important step in the diversification of car offerings in our country.

An important meeting was held on April 8, where the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, received the Ambassador of South Korea in Algeria, Mr. You Ki-Jun.

The aim was to explore ways to strengthen and develop bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of the automotive sector and other sectors such as:

• Electronique;
• Household appliances.

The two countries have always maintained a strong relationship, and this cooperation aims to promote technology transfer.

The South Korean ambassador highlighted Algeria’s significant role in Africa in terms of exports and investment opportunities. Many South Korean companies have already invested in Algeria since the signing of a strategic partnership between the two countries in 2006. Algeria is considered an attractive market for the two car manufacturers, Hyundai and Kia.

Korean brands had already captured large market shares in Algeria before their absence. Recently the Minister of Industry inspected the factories of GMI (Global Motors Industries de Hyundai Trucks)And Gloviz (Kia)Get well.

Unfortunately, these two organizations, specialized in connecting cars, have been closed since 2019. Their activation was planned last March.

Of course, the car assembly plant Hyundai (CIMA)ÂÂ Tiaret intends to return to the car manufacturing competition.

The upcoming arrival of Korean cars on the Algerian market promises to stimulate competition, expand consumer choices and contribute to the diversification of the country’s automotive industry.
