Lamborghini Urus SE: Super SUV plug-in with 800 hp and 60 km of electricity

For the first time in its history, Lamborghini is launching a plug-in hybrid SUV, the Urus SE. The plug-in variant of the Urus, like many other new cars, can be admired at the Auto China 2024 show in Beijing. With a combined power of 800 hp from the familiar four-liter V8 and an electric drive motor, this model guarantees good performance but, if desired, also an electric driving range of up to 60 km.

Lamborghini immediately assures everyone that the Urus SE with its 800 hp hybrid powertrain is not inferior to the Urus S in terms of comfort, performance, efficiency, productivity and driving pleasure. According to the Italian manufacturer, the car has ‘two hearts’, one warm and connected to the roots of the brand, the other electric and futuristic.

With the Urus we have changed the concepts of the SUV world and introduced a new segment“, says Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman & CEO of Lamborghini. In just a few years, the Urus has become our brand’s best seller, allowing Lamborghini to attract new customers and strengthen its position in key markets. With the Urus SE, we have taken another step towards the future in line with our Direzione Cor Tauri strategy, continuing the range electrification and decarbonisation path that began with the introduction of the Revuelto super sports car in March 2023..”

620 V8 and 192 electric horse power

The four-liter turbo-charged V8 has been modified to work better with the electric powertrain. It develops 620 hp (456 kW) and 800 Nm of torque and is paired with an electric powertrain that delivers 141 kW (192 hp) and 483 Nm of torque. Together, the ICE and e-motor provide a total power of 800 hp or 588 kW at 6,000 rpm and 950 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 5,750 revolutions.

Electricity comes from a 25.9 kWh lithium-ion battery that is mounted under the load floor and above the electronically controlled rear differential.Lamborghini Urus SE plugged in Super SUV with 800 hp and 60 km electric car news 0013

A balanced electric motor with permanent magnets in an 8-speed automatic gearbox can work as a supplement to the V8 combustion engine, but also as a towing device, making the Urus SE a 100% electric 4WD that can travel more than 60 km in EV. condition.

Torque Vectoring

The Urus SE features a new longitudinal, centrally located multi-plate electro-hydraulic torque vectoring system that distributes drive torque between the front and rear axles differentially and continuously. The transfer case works in partnership with a new electronic slip differential on the rear axle, allowing the car to shift ‘on demand’ for a good dose of extra fun.

The weight / power ratio is 3.13 kg / hp (compared to 3.3 in the Urus S). Urus SE sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds (Urus S: 3.5) and from 0 to 200 km/h in just 11.2 seconds (Urus S: 12.5) and reaches a top speed of 312 km/h (Urus) . S: 305 km / h).

Special appearance and aerodynamics

The front of the SE has a new hood with a floating design. Other new features include the front light clusters with LED matrix technology, which brings a completely new light signature, as well as a redesigned bumper and grille. At the rear, the trunk lid has been redesigned and there’s a new diffuser that gives the car a more sporty stance. Along with the new spoiler, the diffuser increases downforce by 35% at higher speeds compared to the Urus S, further improving the car’s stability. Aerodynamic efficiency has also been improved with new underbody vents and redesigned air ducts, which channel more airflow to cool mechanical and engine components: a 15% increase over the original Urus. The new front design, along with an improved aerodynamic underbody, has also improved airflow management for the brake system, with a 30% improvement in air cooling compared to the previous system.

Update to the interior

The interior has also been updated, including a larger screen – now 12.3 inches – in the center of the dashboard, with a new version of the Human Machine Interface (HMI) that is more intuitive to use and updated graphics. The designers of the Lamborghini Centro Stile also focused their attention on the air vents, anodized aluminum trim elements with an unmistakable Y shape and new upholstery for the panels, seats and dashboard. The Urus SE is also highly customizable. The alloy wheels have been updated with the introduction of 23″ Galanthus wheels which are fitted with new Pirelli P Zero tires as standard.

The range of colors has also been expanded: more than 100 bodywork options are now available, including two new colors offered at launch: Arancio Egon (orange) and Bianco Sapphirus (white). Interior options include a range of 47 color combinations and four types of embroidery. Lamborghini Urus SE plugged in Super SUV with 800 hp and 60 km electric car news 0012

Up to ‘more than 60 km’ of electricity

Through the EV Drive mode for city driving, the Urus SE can drive more than 60 km on pure electric energy and reach a top speed of 130 km/h. Above this speed, the V8 engine automatically supports the electric motor, even if the required torque exceeds the maximum of the electric motor.

The Hybrid setting, which can be selected when driving in Strada mode, provides high efficiency and comfort with an excellent balance between the combustion engine and the electric motor, making it more of an option for daily driving. ‘Recharge’, which can be selected in Strada, Sport, Corsa and Neve modes, charges up to 80% of the battery while maintaining optimal performance. The ‘Performance’ mode is for use by those who want to use the full potential of the Urus SE.
