Lamborghini Temerario: Hurricane-Erbe with Twin-Turbo-V8

Much was already known about the successor to the Lamborghini Huracán, not just the name. A model name that has now been registered by the Italian sports car manufacturer may shed some light on this. Lamborghini has had the trademark Temerario protected by the European Copyright Office. The implementation of graphics and small corners on the T and O also fits the philosophy of the brand. These were already visible on the new Countach. There doesn’t seem to be any reference to the legendary bull translated from Italian, “temerario” means something like “naughty”.

New text with horns: Temerario.

Biturbo V8 instead of the expected V10

The familiar 5.2 liter ten-cylinder engine from the Huracan is history with the new Temerario; instead, the Italians are using a 4.0-liter biturbo-charged V8. This unit will also be used in the new LMDh race from 2024, but not necessarily for comparison in the production model.

The endurance racing car was developed in-house by the Squadra Corse motorsport department and comes with an output of 500 kW – 680 hp. Anyone who now thinks of the V8 from the Urus is not entirely wrong, the eighth engine from the Audi shelf probably forms the basic configuration for use in the race car and the Temerario, but it has been significantly modified to enable the high level required. . The combustion engine is also supported by an electric motor that is arranged between the engine and the transmission. In the race car, the hybrid drivetrain pumps its power to the rear wheels via a seven-speed Xtrac transmission.

However, the production model has all-wheel drive, although it is not yet clear if this is a mechanical system or if the electric motors also drive the front axle. However, insiders have already reported one thing. The V8 is electrically assisted up to 7,000 rpm. Turbo chargers start working between 7,000 and 10,000 rpm.

There is no more twin than the R8

By the way, Temerario is based on a platform developed by Lamborghini itself. “Because we were very profitable, we were given the green light to develop our platform,” Francesco Scardaoni, head of Asia-Pacific at Lamborghini, told Australian media at the launch of the Huracan Sterrato in Australia. Since the Temerario no longer has twins in the form of the new Audi R8, the Italians were able to reduce the newest platform to Lamborghini specifications. The new Audi R8 will enter the market as a new electric model.

Despite the great secrecy, the Erlkönig is already revealing many details. Up front there are very narrow headlamp slots that extend into the curved front hood. The apron is aerodynamically optimized and aggressively designed and includes LED daytime running lights in the right and left side cooling air vents. A short hood directs the view over the windshield to the same contoured roof. The side view is characterized by flared wheel arches and large cooling air intakes in front of the rear wheels.

Does the exhaust sit like that?

Temerario has a similar opening over the rear guards. The silhouette looks a little squatter than the current model. The rear is dominated by a large diffuser and exhaust located between the taillights. It is doubtful whether this configuration will remain the same. The narrow rear lights are covered with glued lights. But you can clearly see the third breaking light at the end of the roof. Also visible: a flat bonnet lid, which extends smoothly into the triangular rear window and is flanked by tall bodywork with air vents.

By the way, to say goodbye to the Huracan and its V10, Lamborghini offers an off-road series called the Sterrato, and there is also a special sports hatch called the Huracan Tecnica.

Neeeeeinnnnn!Yes!

At the end of 2024, the Temerario will come to the market as the successor to the Huracan on a newly developed platform. The V10 engine will also not be adopted. Instead, the Italians slapped a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 with electric assistance. Do you hear the Urus unit? The base engine configuration of the Huracan should also provide this.
