Sex offender charged with failure to register after traffic stop in Bollinger County – KBSI Fox 23 Cape Girardeau News

BOLLINGER COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – On Friday, April 5, law enforcement officers with the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Bradley Wyss and his sex offender registry violation.

Wyss is a resident of Bollinger County, Missouri, and is required to register as a sex offender due to a prior sex offense conviction outside the state of Wisconsin.

Prior to this investigation, Wyss had been convicted of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender five separate times over a ten-year period, all of which were felonies.

Among those convictions, Wyss was previously arrested by the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender – Felony May 3, 2023.

Following that arrest, Wyss pleaded guilty to a Class E Felony charge of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in Bollinger County Circuit Court in December 2023.

As a result of a plea agreement made between the Bollinger County prosecutor and Wyss for the guilty plea, Wyss was released from custody and served seven months of probation.

Shortly after the investigation began, a detective with the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office observed Wyss driving a vehicle that was not registered to his sex offender registry as required by law.

After conducting the investigation, the detective conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle while Wyss was taken into custody. Following his arrest, a felony warrant was issued for this matter.

The consent statement is as follows:

Charge: Failure to Register as a Sex Offender – 3rd Offense
Bond: $25,000 cash only
Jurisdiction: Bollinger County, Missouri

The Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office will work diligently to ensure the residents of Bollinger County that those required to register as sex offenders in the community will meet the mandatory requirements mandated by law.

If such or any other violation is found, as in the past, the violation will be investigated to the fullest extent for compliance purposes.

For purposes of context related to this investigation, Missouri State Statutes state that if a defendant is convicted of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender – 3rd Offense, he or she will serve a minimum of ten years in prison and no less. over thirty years.

Wyss remains in custody at the Bollinger County Jail at the time of this publication.
