Test Lamborghini Revuelto: with 1015 hp, the super sports car enters a new era

Lamborghini also cannot avoid electrification. Under the slogan ‘From now on’, Italians are entering a new era. And how: Revuelto (2024) is the first Lamborghini to break the magical limit of 1000 hp with its power.

Every car manufacturer knows that the emission of harmful substances must be reduced. But how do you handle that if… Lamborghini What? Are you a brand that almost makes the best sports cars? Revuelto (2024) provides the answer. It is the first sports car from the Italian brand that is available as a plug-in hybrid. As long as that goes well… We’ll try it on the track.

Lightning and electricity: here comes the Lamborghini Revuelto of 1015 hp

Only V12, but also 3 electric motors

When you think of Lamborghini, you immediately think of three primary ingredients: V12, gull-wing doors and extravagant looks. Anyone who fears that Lamborghini will throw these core values in the trash can be reassured. All three can be reviewed. The successor to the Aventador also has that wild combination of angles and sharp lines. It is denser on the Revuelto. Although you can still see the similarity with its predecessor.

Lightning and electricity: here comes the Lamborghini Revuelto of 1015 hp

Eight speed automatic, dual clutch

The technical department had to work harder. In addition to twelve cylinders, Revuelto has no less than three electric motors. The 6.5-liter V12 placed in front of the rear axle – without a turbo and good for 825 hp alone – was rotated 180 degrees. The space that has been found is filled by an electric motor, which drives the rear axle. And where the transmission was, now there is a small battery with a capacity of 3.8 kWh. Perhaps nothing bigger can fit next to a big V12…

The front wheels are driven electrically by two compact electric motors, good for 150 hp and 350 Nm. Driving four wheels is not an unnecessary luxury with the Revuelto, because no less than 1015 hp must be transferred to the pavement. The Revuelto shifts automatically, with two eight-speed manual transmissions.

0-200 km/h in 7 seconds

Of course, a lot of power needs a place where you can measure without heavy traffic fines, ie a circuit. When you start the engine, you don’t have to worry about the silence of the electric motor, but the V12 starts immediately. Which immediately puts to rest any worries about a lack of enthusiasm. Electric start is possible, if you choose Cittá (city) mode. Lamborghini says you can drive 10 kilometers entirely on electricity. Acceleration to 100 km/h is very fast: in 2.5 seconds. After another 4.5 seconds of full shock, the Revuelto is already at 200 kilometers per hour. Revuelto only stops at 350 km / h.

Rear axle drive

As expected, Lamborghini responds to the gas like an old man to the word of God. It turns corners smoothly and precisely and – unlike previous models – gives the driver a lot of confidence. This is related to torque vectoring, which sends torque to the wheel for greater grip. This improves flexibility and stability. If the system detects that the rear end is in danger of breaking, the inside front wheel is braked at lightning speed and therefore the force is better distributed. In addition, the Revuelto has rear axle steering with a maximum steering angle of 5 degrees.

“The sprint to 100 km/h is dizzyingly fast: in 2.5 seconds.”

An electric motor as a generator

It is difficult to imagine how easily you can control a car with more than 1000 hp. Thanks to modern aerodynamics, the car sticks to the pavement. You can change gears at lightning speed using the paddles behind the steering wheel and the interaction between the four engines is amazing. Your confidence is constantly increasing. You don’t have to worry about an empty battery, because the electric motor in the back also works as a generator and converts the excess energy of the V12 into electricity. Energy is also gained during breaking. But you can also charge the battery at a (public) charging station, if you need attention from a neighbor. Rebuke the designers: the connection is in frunk; front luggage compartment.

Lamborghini Revuelto price in the Netherlands: sold until the end of 2025

Shortly before the end of the test drive we go all the way and run the V12 at its maximum speed of 9500 rpm. You’re also shown the V12’s festive menu in all its glory, with a roar as we head towards 350 km/h. Just before we reached that speed, we broke the brakes at speed, went down and headed into the bend. What a wonderful interplay between thunder and lightning. That makes you curious about Lamborghini’s first electric car, the Lanzador. It will come in 2028 and therefore will have to do without lightning.

“We’re going at 350 km/h with a big bang.”

New Revuelto customers must also be patient. Although it is expected to cost 700,000 euros (expected price in Belgium: 500,000 euros), the Revuelto is already sold until the end of 2025. Yes, and for those who are interested: the WLTP consumption of the Revuelto is still unknown. .

Lamborghini Revuelto (2024) review

A performance brand that prides itself on its low emissions, no wonder? Not for Lamborghini. The Revuelto is also a true sports car, where driving pleasure still takes precedence over technical skills. The fact that you can now drive several kilometers on electricity in a Lamborghini is just joy for tree huggers. Most importantly, the Italians have created a near-perfect car with the Revuelto, which is surprisingly easy to drive and seems to offer endless power.
