In the Council of Liguria iconic Fiat 500 D that belonged to Pertini – News


The historic red Fiat 500D that belonged to the former President of the Republic Sandro Pertini will be displayed until tomorrow in the hall of the headquarters of the Region of Liguria, via Fieschi 15, in Genoa. The program is organized by the Liguria Legislative Assembly and the organization Stati Generali del Patrimonio Italiano and is part of the ‘Cities of the Presidents’ program, a cultural, historical and tourist itinerary that has the patronage of Anci, the National Automobile Museum of Turin, The Sandro Pertini Association of Stella San Giovanni (Savona) and the Sandro Pertini Foundation of Florence. The first “stop” of the historic car was, on February 24, in Stella, the birthplace of Pertini.


The Fiat 500 D, registered in 1962, is usually displayed in the National Automobile Museum of Turin and was donated to the Piedmontese capital by Pertini’s widow, Carla Voltolina.


“The visit of President Pertini of the Cinquecento could not skip Genoa, and the regional headquarters in particular – said the vice president of the Regional Council of Liguria Armando Sanna -: Pertini was born and lived in Liguria, in Genoa he worked as a journalist. The car that was his, like that of many Italians of the time, fully embodies the popular and democratic spirit that has always improved his political mission, the Provincial Council dedicated a room to him because here Pertini will always be his home values.”


“The program – said the President of the Italian Heritage States Ivan Drogo Inglese – also represents a tribute to the Fiat 500, an iconic symbol of Italian ingenuity and more generally to the world of historic cars which in Liguria has thousands of lovers and collectors” .


The symbolic cutting of the ribbon in front of the historic car was done by Ardenia Dellepiane, widow of Fulvio Cerofolini, participant, mayor of Genoa from 1975 to 1985, member of parliament and president of the regional council from 1996 to 2000.
