Dodge Charger EV: magical electric muscle car with acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, mechanical rear LSD

As the electric vehicle market continues to grow, more and more manufacturers are trying to differentiate themselves from the competition by incorporating a traction feature. Rivian it throws itself on a road without roads and events, time Tesla seems to think of itself as a luxury car maker, and Hyundai plays the racing driver with its Ioniq 5 N.

Dodge, true to form, looked to its legacy in the world of muscle cars with the release of the Dodge Charger EV ( ). The Charger EV is an all-electric muscle car with two engines and all-wheel drive that produces 670 hp and reaches 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds – at least in its Daytona version.

Dodge Charger EV in a nutshell:

  • architecture 400 V.
  • Dual-engine AWD powertrain, rear-wheel drive.
  • Mechanical LSD at the rear.
  • 3.0-100 km/h time in 3 seconds.
  • 100.5 kWh battery with a power of 550 kW.
  • Power between 496 and 670 hp, depending on finishing materials and upgrades.

If you were worried that the new EV charger would be sterile and boring, as most EVs can be, fear not. Dodge has included a number of features to keep drivers on their toes. For starters, the Dodge Charger Daytona EV has a front-wheel drive cutout, turning the rear drive into an all-wheel-drive behemoth, and a limited-slip rear differential — not that kind of brake-dependent trickery here.

Dodge has also added a number of features to the Charger EV that are meant for mischief. Amazing Donut mode allows rear wheel rotation and uses brake-based torque vectoring to control the rate and direction of vehicle rotation, while Drift mode uses similar tricks to help drivers bring the rear end into corners in a controlled manner.

For added stability, Dodge has equipped the Charger EV with all sorts of new safety technologies, including forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, as well as active lane management, steering assist, cruise control and drowsy driving detection, among others.

Dodge hasn’t revealed exact availability of the new Charger EV, but deliveries will begin in late 2024.
