BMW and Rimac are entering into a long-term partnership


The BMW Group and Rimac Technology, headquartered near Zagreb, Croatia, have announced a long-term partnership. According to the statement, the goal of the partnership is the joint development and production of “innovative solutions in the field of high-voltage storage technology for selected battery-electric vehicle projects.”

“The strengths and capabilities of both companies complement each other in a targeted manner,” it says. The BMW Group wants to further expand its “leading position in the area of ​​advanced electrics”. “Before 2030, battery-electric vehicles will account for more than half of global vehicle sales. The BMW Group brings more than 15 years of battery and electric drive expertise to the partnership” said the German car company.

Rimac Technology is a service provider of the Rimac Group that specializes in electrical products for the automotive industry. “The portfolio is defined by high-voltage battery systems, e-axles as well as electrical solutions and applications that are developed and produced in-house,” explain Croatia, who are known for e-super sports cars. “This makes it possible to offer solutions that combine advanced technology with advanced customization. The long-term partnership with the BMW Group shows the company’s transformation from a niche supplier of premium sports cars to a Tier 1 supplier for projects of high-end cars.

Thanks to the constant growth of the company, including the opening of the Rimac Campus (photo of the article), the company is ready to implement large projects “according to the highest standards of vehicles as a reliable partner,” says Rimac Technology.

The two partners plan to announce further details on the form, scope and content of the strategic partnership at a later date.

Regardless of the new partnership, BMW insists it is preparing to launch the sixth generation of its “eDrive” technology. “It will lead to greater advancements in all customer-related assets such as range and payment time.”
