Alberta Friendship Centres (AFC) are partnering with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) to produce a retrofitting project and summit series that will benefit Indigenous communities throughout the province. The project and summit series will focus on the importance of retrofitting existing buildings and structures to reduce energy consumption and improve air quality.

In 2018, AFC and SAIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize the partnership. The MOU was signed in order to develop projects that would help Indigenous communities in Alberta reduce their energy consumption, increase efficiency, and improve air quality.

The retrofitting project and summit series will focus on the importance of retrofitting existing buildings and structures, in order to reduce energy consumption, increase efficiency, and improve air quality. The project and summit series will be aimed at Indigenous communities in Alberta, and will focus on the importance of retrofitting existing buildings and structures.

The project will involve the installation of energy-saving technologies and materials, such as insulation, ventilation systems, energy-efficient windows and doors, and energy-efficient lighting. These technologies and materials will help to reduce energy costs, as well as improve air quality. The project will also include training and workshops for community members to learn more about energy-saving technologies and how to use them.

The summit series will provide an opportunity for Indigenous communities in Alberta to come together and discuss the importance of retrofitting existing buildings and structures. The summit will also provide a platform for Indigenous communities to exchange ideas and to share best practices for retrofitting existing buildings and structures.

The retrofitting project and summit series will be an important step for Indigenous communities in Alberta in reducing energy consumption and improving air quality. By taking part in the project and summit series, Indigenous communities will be able to reduce their energy costs and make their buildings more energy-efficient, which will help to improve air quality and reduce energy costs.
