Electric cars | Alfa Romeo shows its first electric car in Milan

Alfa Romeo Milano is celebrating its world premiere in Milan. The small SUV, called Elettrica, is the Italian brand’s first electric car. At the same time, it is also offered in a hybrid version.

Alfa Romeo presents its third SUV after the Stelvio and Tonale: the Alfa Milano is 4.17 m long, 1.78 m wide and 1.50 m tall. Two different variants of the Scudetto, “Leggenda” (Legend) and “Progresso” (Progress), are available for the model developed at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. The SUV offers short headlights with a sharply sloping rear end and narrow taillights. However, the SUV cannot hide its similarity to other models from the Stellantis Group, especially in the area of the C-pillar. In the interior of the SUV, the front seats can optionally be ordered as sports seats. The cockpit, which has a “Cannocchiale” design, integrates a 10.25″. The same large touch screen is found on the center console of the infotainment system. The AI voice assistant “Hey Alfa” is used for the first time, which Elettrica offers, among other things EV routing The volume of the trunk should be around 400 l, the charging cable of the E version can be placed under the front hood.

The Alfa Romeo Milano Elettrica is powered by a synchronous hybrid motor (HSM). This produces 115 kW (156 hp) and in the particularly sporty version Milano Elettrica 240 Veloce 176 kW (240 hp). The lithium-ion battery offers a capacity of 54 kWh. The range of the entry-level version should be 410 km according to WLTP. With DC charging at up to 100 kW, the Elettrica can be charged from ten to 80% SoC in less than 30 minutes.

Alfa Romeo Milano as Electric and Hybrid

The Ibrida model uses a 1.2 liter three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 100 kW (136 hp) thanks to a turbocharger with paddle wheel geometry. A 48-V hybrid electric motor with an output of 21 kW (29 hp) was connected to a six-speed dual-scissor transmission. Unlike the front-wheel-drive Elettrica, the Alfa Romeo Q4’s electric all-wheel drive will be available later for a hybrid version. Like all models, the Milano is equipped with Alfa DNA driving dynamics control. Depending on the equipment, driver assistance systems enable semi-autonomous driving at level 2.

The engineering team responsible for the Giulia GTA / GTAm and 4C also developed the Milano chassis, which is intended to give the small car a sporty driving behavior compared to the group’s derivatives. The Elettrica Veloce also has a sports suspension that has been lowered by 25 mm, reinforced controls on the front and rear axles, a sports suspension system with four-piston monobloc calipers and 380 mm brake discs on the front axle, as well as mechanics.
