Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Q4. A beautiful Italian girl and looks jealous. Test, review

“Good, good, good, what an Alfa is an Alfa” – these are the most repeated phrases we heard when refueling or parking the Stelvio.

Indeed, the test copy looks good. A short, powerful body shape, a large triangular Alfa front with the company badge, large air intakes at the front on both sides of the car, dual exhaust tips, and above all, 21-inch rims and red brakes. brakes “open. “through them – this is everything that made the Stelvio a real attraction on the road, even when it was parked.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Q4 – beautiful, refined interior style

The great views that the Stelvio offers from the outside are amplified when we take a seat inside. The driver’s seat is very comfortable, with a sporty profile, with strong side buttons on the seat and backrest, and electrically adjustable and manually adjustable seat front for better thigh support for tall drivers. When we add to this the vertical and longitudinal adjustment of the steering wheel (slightly bent, three-spoke down), it turns out that every driver, regardless of height (and weight), can easily set the perfect position for himself. The only problem is that the front seat belt buckles are too long, which makes it difficult to fasten them and fasten the seat belts.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Q4 – the dashboard is a showcase of Italian fashion

When we touch the thick, comfortable steering wheel, a smile immediately appears on the face. The upper part of the board is covered with leather, as well as the door panels (option). The front of the dashboard, the central panel and the top of the doors have carbon inserts. The clocks are located in the tunnels, and on the center panel, next to the elegant gear lever, there are three buttons to control the driving modes, multimedia and car and radio functions.

We have three operating modes: Natural, Adaptive and High Efficiency (eco). The latter is for the rude, but it causes the car to work sluggishly, accelerating only after pressing the accelerator pedal hard. Power shows the true nature of the Stelvio – the car reacts instantly to the gas, allowing you to feel like in a sports car.

The gears can be controlled in three ways: in automatic mode by setting the lever to D, and manually using the lever or paddles on the steering wheel. Paddles are large, comfortable to use, but you must remember that they do not rotate with the steering wheel.

To be honest, the manual gear change in the Stelvio will especially appeal to sports driving enthusiasts, because the 8-speed automatic works well and gently, provides reasonable dynamics and great driving pleasure.

The three-spoke steering wheel has a few easy-to-use buttons to control the cruise control, turn on Lane Keeping Assist, Hill Descent Assist and the radio.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Q4 – powerful engine, 280-horsepower

Under the hood of the Stelvio test, there was a 2.0 liter turbo petrol engine with 280 hp and 400 Nm of torque. This is enough to drive a car weighing almost 2 tons (with passengers, it weighs 1660 kg empty). According to factory data, acceleration to “hundreds” takes only 5.7 seconds. Due to the difficult winter conditions, we could not verify these data.

Visibility from the driver’s seat directly in front and to the sides is very good, only the rear view, through the large sloped boot lid window, is limited. You should use the side mirrors, and when driving, especially turning and parking, the rear camera and parking sensors (front and rear) help a lot.

During the test (half the distance on the road, half in the city) the average fuel consumption was 10.5 l/100 km. On the road, while maintaining the permitted speed (120-140 km / h), you can enter 9 l/100 km. These values are higher than those given by the manufacturer. According to factory data, the tested Stelvio consumes an average of 8.7 l/100 km.

We were able to assure ourselves of the effectiveness of the car’s safety systems. During the morning trip along the A2 road, it turned out that there are thin tongues of ice on the road after the night frost. The highway services simply fell asleep and did not spray the de-icing agent in time. At one point, at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour, we drove our left wheels on that part of the icy road. The car vibrated a lot, we felt the ESP system working, but the track was maintained. In fact a dozen or so seconds later we saw two cars stuck on the barriers – the outer and the inner, which lost their grip on the ice, did a pirouette and hit the barriers.
