Alfa Romeo Milano gets a new name and is now called Alfa Romeo Junior – DutchCowboys

The all-new Alfa Romeo SUV, originally christened the Milano, is undergoing a dramatic makeover under pressure from the Italian authorities. The name will now be changed to Junior. When you read it you wonder how this strange situation could have been prevented. And all this at a time when Alfa Romeo’s attention is high with the introduction of the first electric car of the Italian brand.

From Milano to Junior

All this because the local authorities are not satisfied with the name. The very small SUV, described by Alfa Romeo as a sports car, is not produced in Milan, as the name suggests, but in Tychy, Poland. And this forces Alfa Romeo to make a shameful name change. The name Junior is of course not new and refers to the famous model, Alfa Romeo GT Junior. And it was very good.

So they would have been better off keeping the original Brennero name, named after the Brenner Pass in South Tyrol. The marketing director responsible for this slip-up would be better off setting up an ice cream parlor somewhere on an Italian island. I wonder if he’s going to call it Milano, because that sounds really cool.
