LUDINGTON – It has been a rough start to the season for the Ludington girls soccer team as the Orioles have failed to win a game.

Cadillac handed the Orioles their third loss of the season (they have one tie) on Thursday night with a 1-0 decision in a non-conference action that was almost as close as the score showed.

The Vikings’ goal came early in the contest, only 2 1/2 minutes into the game. It was a defensive battle the rest of the time.

“I would say Cadillac probably had more possession in the game than we did,” Ludington coach Kris Anderson said. “But we played really well defensively and limited the number of shots that Cambria Britton had to face on goal.

“Then in the second half, we had a little wind behind us and we created good chances to score. Their keeper had to save a few good bucks, and a couple that went further.

The other scoring opportunities that came the Orioles’ way didn’t quite materialize.

Ludington was also playing shortstop, while Madison Gasaway was scoreless.

The Orioles fell to 0-3-1 on the season and will travel to Whitehall for a West Michigan Conference game on Monday.
