Three new electric vehicles have already been confirmed by Skoda: a city car and two SUVs. They will be launched by 2026.
Accelerate to Skoda in terms of electricity. In the next five years, the brand will spend more than five billion euros to develop its electric transition. After promising three new models by 2030, the Czech now plans to launch them by 2026. These three new cars will join two Enyaq silhouettes. And the focus will still be on the SUV! The rest of the program should include a sedan!
2024 – Compact SUV
In the market of electric compacts, Skoda will unsurprisingly play on the silhouette of an SUV, a more service provider. The model will be positioned as the electric equivalent of the Karoq. So it should be about 25 cm shorter than the Enyaq. The base will again be MEB. The change however will be at the level of style. This car is supposed to launch the new “Modern Solid” model of Skoda, announced by the Vision 7S concept. For example, there is a T-shaped light signature on the front and rear.
2025 – city car
Seat, or rather Cupra now, has been assigned to oversee the development of the group’s new electric city car project, shared by Volkswagen and Skoda. The working basis is the MEB platform, used by ID.3 or ID.4, which will therefore be shortened and indeed simplified, to reduce costs. The goal is to have a starting price excluding bonuses below €25,000. If Cupra has already presented a concept car (theUrban Rebel), Skoda has so far released a teaser of the silhouette, which looks more angular than the Spanish car. The Skoda model can also be seen as a crossover.
2026 – a large SUV
Skoda already has an electric family SUV in its range, the Enyaq. But the Czech company is preparing another one, preceded by the Vision 7S concept. The main difference, rather than style? The fact that this model can accommodate 7 people, with a third row of seats. So this model will be more interesting, the concept is more than 5 meters in length. The model also had a new battery, 89 kWh, promising a range of more than 600 km and a maximum charging power of 200 kW.
Good: small city car and sedan
After these three new models, Skoda will not stop there. Especially since in Europe, hot cars will be banned from selling in 2035. Therefore, the manufacturer must have an electric equivalent for all poles of its type.
This is especially true of Octavia. The boss of the brand has already mentioned a 100% electric version of his sedan, which remains standard, and his station wagon, Skoda’s best seller. But the brand does not want to go too fast on the electrification of this car. So the electric Octavia should not be available before the launch of the new generation, at the end of the decade.
Another project mentioned by the Skoda boss, a small entry-level city car, which would therefore have the same entry ticket as the Fabia. So the design could take the shape of the Anti Dacia Spring, even if it means reducing the elements of the technical sheet, such as the battery.
