Mitsubishi ASX (2024): All information about the facelift

The Mitsubishi ASX is being modified early. A small SUV based on the Renault Captur came to the market only at the beginning of 2023 (see the video below this paragraph). Shortly after the revision of the sister model, the ASX also shows a new face.

Unlike the Renault Catpur

It differentiates the Mitsubishi from its Renault sister model more clearly than before. A different bumper with a large air intake and a high-emphasized grill give it its own character. The ASX also has black covers over the daytime running lights arranged vertically. Unlike the Captur, they look like individual lighting elements and are therefore similar to the Mitsubishi Colt (which in turn is based on the Renault Clio).

Dimensions are not changed. Mitsubishi ASX is 4,227 mm long, 1,797 mm wide and 1,567 mm tall. There is also no difference from the predecessor in the view of the profile and back. It remains with the rear-view camera stuck in the tailgate, which is hidden in the brand logo on the Renault Captur, and the large Mitsubishi logo.

Depending on the equipment line, the small SUV rolls on 17 or 18 inch wheels. Five paint colors are available. For top equipment lines you can configure a black roof as a separate feature.

Google’s app for infotainment

A Google Maps map can also be displayed behind the wheel.

In the future, Mitsubishi ASX will have two tracks in the cockpit. Only the top models get a larger 10.4-inch display and the Google Android Automotive operating system. Navigation is done via Google Maps. A navigation map can be displayed on the 10-inch display behind the steering wheel. The Google Assistant app is included as a voice control. You can download additional apps through the Play Store, including streaming services such as Spotify. Smartphones can be connected to the infotainment system via Apple Carplay or Android Auto, even without a cable connection. Software updates are installed “over the air”. For the first time there is a sound system from the Harman/Kardon brand with a power of 410 watts.

Base models continue to feature the familiar infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen as well as a large digital instrument cluster. The space and volume of the trunk (depending on the car: 326 to 351 liters) remain the same. In addition, the rear seat bench in Mitsubishi ASX can be manually adjusted in height by 16 centimeters.

Support systems comply with the latest certification regulations. In addition to the improved emergency brake control, there is traffic sign recognition that can be integrated with the cruise control. If the detected speed limit is exceeded, a warning tone sounds. Using a button on the left side of the steering wheel, a predetermined configuration of information and warning sounds can be activated after starting the journey. This allows you to mute the acoustic tempo sound.

The app can communicate with the vehicle and thus display information such as the fuel level or the exact location of the vehicle on the smartphone. A specific area may also be mentioned. If the ASX leaves this area, for example after lending it to your own child, this will be reported in the “My Mitsubsihi Motors” application.

Engines from 91 to 158 HP

Driving technology has not changed yet. Above the base model 1.0 Turbo with a three-cylinder petrol engine of 91 hp there is a 1.3 liter four-cylinder as a small hybrid. It is available with a six-speed manual gearbox and 140 hp. The variant with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission has an output of 158 hp.

The Mitsubishi ASX Hybrid combines a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter, 91 hp gasoline engine with an electric motor that produces 36 kW (49 hp). Third in the group is a starter generator with 15 kW (20 hp). The output of the hybrid system, which charges its small battery while driving at a standstill or with regenerative energy, is 143 hp.

When routing is enabled, topography data flows into the hybrid drive control. Downhill slopes can therefore be used for planned energy recovery. With the facelift, the plug-in combination with a large battery and an external charging port is off.

Market launch in June 2024

Production of the facelifted Mitsubishi ASX will begin in Spain in May 2024, and the first examples will be available at dealers from June. As usual, there will be four lines of equipment: Basic, Plus, Introductory Edition and Advanced. Prices are not yet known. Compared to the current model, which is available from 24,690 euros, they are unlikely to increase. As usual, the Mitsubishi ASX comes with a new car warranty for five years (up to 100,000 km), and the hybrid battery is guaranteed for eight years (up to 160,000 km).

… very interesting. A low-to-the-ground car – nobody needs more.… it’s not interesting. Technically and visually the car from yesterday.

With a facelift, the Mitsubishi ASX has a more developed, individual character. Thanks to its independent front part, it will be easy to distinguish it from its sister model, Renault Captur.

The infotainment software benefits from Google’s partnership. Nothing changes with the drivers. However, the plug-in hybrid is no longer part of the ASX range after the facelift.
