It seems that the car market is shrinking instead of expanding, sometimes – but that’s all because many car manufacturers are dropping passenger cars left and right. So, the remaining few need to bundle up, buckle up, and put on a good show if they want to survive.

On the one hand, crossovers, SUVs, and trucks of the world are gaining popularity, while many passenger cars have to agree that their time of normality is probably behind them. On the other hand, EV lifestyle is reshaping the entire landscape, while some nameplates have failed to remain committed to the new values. However, other models were born in this climate and were somehow adapted to find the perfect niche to make them indispensable.

No worries; there is no need to take our word lightly. Instead, here’s an eloquent example or two: Tesla and Corvette. The first is an American EV manufacturer and sustainable energy company that was born into the world a few years ago so that legacy manufacturers laughed at its lack of legacy for more than a decade before eating their sarcasm and realizing how Tesla (Model Y ) rose. in popularity and sold more units than anything else last year.

I know Toyota said the Corolla hit beat Tesla’s Model Y, but they bundled the Corolla Cross to claim victory – it’s like Tesla saying Model 3 and Y sales need to be reported together. The other is ‘America’s sports car,’ and it reimagined itself for the eighth generation with a new mid-engine approach that gave it new supercar-killing qualities in terms of price and performance.

The two, Tesla and Corvette, recently met on either side – the videographer behind the Wheels Plus channel on YouTube is a big fan of Mission Raceway Park in Canada and also loves a good sports car vs. EV competition. So, he’s back for the Thunder by the River – although only one of the rivals has the sound of a V8.

The blue Tesla Model 3, presumably the Performance version, wanted to see if it could beat the burgundy Chevy Corvette Z06 with its FPC record-breaking 670-horsepower V8. Well, sadly for Tesla fans, the color of the car was a sign of things to come for the owner – perhaps he was feeling a little bluer after a better start than the Z06 but he was still beaten when the scoreboards read 11.33s at 125 mph versus 11.54s. at 116 mph at the end of the pass.

Oddly enough, the orange C8 Corvette Stingray also kept up with the Tesla Model S during the second race, but this MRP battle was nothing to write home about, with a result of 11.73s versus 12.21. Right?
