Andretti Cadillac: “I totally disagree with F1’s decision”

After Formula 1’s decision to reject Andretti’s bid to join the Circus in 2025, the response from the American group was not long in coming. A message showing Andretti Cadillac’s disappointment, after an official announcement that surprised the environment. In fact, last October the Federation had deemed the group suitable to continue the F1 project.

“Andretti Cadillac has reviewed the information shared by Formula One Management Limited and strongly disagrees with its content. The statement reads. “Andretti and Cadillac are two successful international motorsports organizations committed to putting a true American factory team in F1 to compete alongside the best teams in the world. We are proud of the great progress we have already made in developing a highly competitive car with a powertrain and experienced team behind us, and our work is progressing rapidly. A message that brings a significant dose of pain due to the great work that had been done to reach this technical point and which instead has now stopped. The statement ends with a thanks given to the fans, who on the web and on social networks have supported the American group: “Andretti Cadillac would also like to recognize and thank the fans who have shown their support.”

Mario Andretti says: “I’m sad”

For Andretti this is a bad setback probably caused by one the lack of clarity about the bridges between F1 and the FIA. The technical progress mentioned in the press release was able to continue thanks to the green light from the Federation which arrived last October. In fact, the FIA decided that Andretti had the right technical means to enter F1. So the difference stands out when reading the letter issued this afternoon by System 1: “The most important way a new entrant will bring value is by being competitive. We do not believe that the Applicant will be a competitive participant.” A decision that sees the support of the team, but more than the technical front, on the economy. Teams have been reluctant to welcome new teams, as with the current Concorde Agreement, the economic benefits have to be shared more widely. A similar reasoning applies to decisions made with a view to the future. From here it is easy to understand what the real goal of the decision is. While the door remains open to the possibility of entering 2028 alongside General Motors, the channel set by F1 highlights the differences between Stefano Domenicali’s organization and that of Ben Sulayem.. A difference that is certainly not good for the high society of motorsport. Without too many turns of phrase, either Mario Andretti expressed himself on the matter with a post published on Xshowing his deep disappointment.
