Alpine had an acceptable weekend in Miami, although Pierre Gasy and Esteban Ocon had to work with crumbs (8th and 9th place). That’s not where Alpine wants to be, so this week will be spent on additional testing. That’s obviously not possible for the current car, but possible for the old model. The Alpine with which Ocon won the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2021 was on Monday and can also be seen in action on Tuesday at the Monza circuit.

Youth in action

Alpine is definitely testing parts on the car from the last two seasons. Jack Doohan is used to this on Tuesdays. He is currently the team’s test and reserve driver, and races in Formula 2. The Australian wanted a shot at the championship, but with a current thirteenth place in the standings, winning the top prize now seems a possibility difficult.

On Monday, Victor Martins made his Alpine debut. The Frenchman is the reigning F3 champion, also currently racing in F2 and recently tested a Gen3 Formula E car for Nissan. On the fast track in Monza, the talent made its debut in an F1 car. “Today I realized one of my dreams, you can’t imagine how happy I am now. I loved every second”Martins reported through his social media channels.
