Kia reveals its first image of the Tasman van | Car news

• Here’s the first look at the Tasman, Kia’s future pickup truck.

Kia, as we know, is working on the first car. Today, the company shared an official image of its Tasman, complete with a color image, to give us an idea of what it will look like.

Initially, this car is intended for the Korean market, then that of Australia, Africa and the Middle East. Nothing has been confirmed for North America, but prototypes have been seen being tested in California. That’s not lying.

Also, the company has already confirmed an electric car for the US market in 2027. This version would be based on gasoline which will be launched first. Will we qualify for both? All this remains to be seen.

The Tasman pickup truck is scheduled to enter service in 2025. Its name is taken from the Australian island of Tasmania.

Obviously, for a car wearing this type of trim, it is difficult to distinguish the details of the design, but it gives us a good view of the overall design. For example, we can see the shape of the cabin, as well as the headlights that seem to take the signature adopted by the EV9 electric SUV. The shapes are very square, too.

The model also wears all-terrain tires, which indicates the presence of the most attractive variant in the range. One can easily imagine this for the Australian market; we will see ours.

As for details on the technical sheet of this model or any similarities with the price range, you will definitely need to be patient. A Diesel engine is expected elsewhere, but we forget that for our market.

However, we do know that the platform will be a truck, ie a chassis on a frame. Rumors point to a towing capacity of around 8,000 pounds (GM and Ford are at 7,700 and 7,500, respectively, in this midsize pickup category), with a payload of around 2,200 pounds.

A lot of news, therefore, but a lot of mystery surrounding what will be in store for us with this car signed by Kia.
