One of the toughest anti-trans bills in the nation has become law in Kentucky. Governor Matt Bevin signed Senate Bill (SB) 17, which prohibits transgender people from changing the gender marker on their birth certificates.
The new law prohibits transgender people from amending their birth certificates to reflect their gender identity. It also requires that any legal documents and records pertaining to a person’s gender must reflect the gender listed on their birth certificate.
