Arco man killed in two-vehicle crash on U.S. 93 – Post Register

An Arco man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 93 on Wednesday morning, according to the Idaho State Police.

At approximately 8:40 a.m., 39-year-old Forrest F. Stearns was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche southbound on U.S. 93 when he crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2018 Freightliner truck, operated by 62-year-old Kenneth M. Cook of Basin, Wyoming.

Stearns was pronounced dead at the scene. Cook was transported by air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The crash, which occurred near milepost 316, is under investigation by the ISP.

The incident has resulted in the closure of both lanes of U.S. 93, between Arco and Howe, for an extensive period of time. Motorists were diverted onto nearby State Highway 45 and Highway 26.

The Idaho State Police encourages drivers to exercise caution when operating their vehicles and to observe all safety measures, as the use of seatbelts and the observance of speed limits can be critical in preventing serious injury or death resulting from motor vehicle accidents.
