Remember when it seemed that no matter how hard it tried to make one final version of the Zonda, Pagani would always find an excuse to make another version? Well, it seems to have the same attitude now with the Huayra.
Despite being ‘replaced’ by the special Utopia at the end of 2022, the Italian company has teased a new convertible version of the Huayra. Well, technically, Imola – a version focused on the hypercar track, and only five of them were built.
This step down over Imola doesn’t seem to have changed much, except for a panel that appears to have been removed. From one leaked rear image at least, the performance of the car seems to remain the same – a large rear wing and a sharp diffuser and all.
Perhaps then, this version still named Imola will also keep its trick aero system, risking several moving wings. Expect to see the car’s geometry improved with the integrated suspensions carried over the top, and the front shocks can adjust the ride height on the move.
We’ll assume the AMG-sourced twin-turbo 6.0-litre V12 will still be used, good for 816bhp and 811lb ft of torque in the Imola setting. That should be delivered to the rear wheels via a seven-speed Xtrac gearbox.
Dry weight may rise slightly above Imola’s quoted figure of 1,246kg, though not by much. The current car also has carbon ceramic brake discs, 400mm front and 380mm, and Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tyres.
As for the price, it won’t be cheap. A rise in Imola’s asking price of €5m (before tax) can be expected, as well as a shorter production run. Not that we think Pagani will struggle to sell them…
