Fernando Alonso has extended his contract with Aston Martin

At the age of 42, the Spaniard Fernando Alonso continues his journey in Formula 1 with Aston Martin, as the British team announced this Thursday, April 11.

“After months of speculation about the most experienced driver in Formula 1 history, Fernando Alonso has reaffirmed his commitment to Aston Martin Aramco by signing a new multi-year contract,” said the team owned by Lawrence Stroll, Canadian Lance Stroll.

“Fernando is hungry for success, he’s driving better than ever, he’s fitter than ever and he’s fully committed to making Aston Martin Aramco a competitive force,” said Mick Krack, the manufacturer’s team leader.

Unique height

For his part, Fernando Alonso was “pleased” with the extension of his contract, and is looking forward to “being part of the project”.

“I’m in good shape and I’m still hungry. I will give everything I have as we continue our journey to become a world champion team,” added the oldest footballer on the grid, F1 world champion in 2005 and 2006.

An Aston Martin driver since the 2023 season, Fernando Alonso scored 8 podiums in his first season with the British team without winning, and scored 208 points in total.
