Aston Martin wants to sign Sebastian Vettel long-term: “Talks are going well”

Aston Martin wants the expiring contract of Sebastian Vettel extend for a longer period of time. If the four-time world champion does not continue with the British team, it could start a musical chair dance in Formula 1. Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack does not expect that to be the case and that he could keep the German with the team for much longer.

“We’ve always been open,” Krack said in response to Motorsport.com. “If Sebastian wants to extend the contract, we would like to do it for a longer period. We are talking, we have a good relationship but we have not set a deadline. If it takes longer we may get into trouble, but Sebastian knows that too. We keep each other confidential. I hope everything will be fine.”

It is said that Vettel’s decision is also related to the car. Aston Martin wasn’t great at the start of the season, but it’s gotten better since Barcelona. Krack: “We have always said we want to improve the car quickly. Barcelona was the first step. Now we want to show Sebastian the next step and then we will talk again about the contract. You should never talk about your feelings.” then you can only give up. We are working hard towards Silverstone and then we will see how it goes. After Silverstone we will talk again.”
