Dacia does not offer discounts. How much does a used Duster depreciate?

The depreciation indicator has long been used by rental car companies. For private customers, this is also a value parameter, thanks to that they can already know when buying a car how much it will be worth in a few years, when it is worth selling, and what the maintenance costs will be. . Another value that is difficult to convert, but very important, is trust in the brand.

When it leaves the dealer’s showroom for the first time with its new owner. If it is a popular and available model, its value drops by at least a few percent at this point. After the first year of use, even if the car looks new and has low mileage, the loss in value is about 10%.

One of the brands that maintains a high residual value of their models on the Polish market is… Dacia. This may come as a surprise to many drivers, but it is confirmed by Eurotax calculations and analysis of used car sales ads. In fact, this is Dacia in its second incarnation, after being associated with Renault, and not the Romanian one from many years ago – known for its poor cars.

Duster “holds” the price

According to Eurotax experts, the residual value of Dacia Duster 1.0 TCE with LPG factory installation after three years of operation and 45,000 miles. km is 60.9 percent. purchase price. Competitive models have a lower price, eg Hyundai Kona 1.0 T-GDI and the same mileage reaches 51.8%. original price, and VW T-Roc 1.0 TSI 54.9 percent. Skoda Kamiq 1.0 TSI has a slightly higher value than Duster – 65.0%. purchase price.

The three-year-old Dacia Duster, but with twice the mileage – 90,000. eg, it reaches a value of 56.5%. purchase price. Competitors are undervalued – eg Hyundai Kona at 47.3 per cent and VW T-Roc at 50.2 per cent. Only the Skoda Kamiq “holds its price” better and has a value of 59.4%. purchase price.

Eurotax did the same calculation (three years and 45,000 km) for Dacia Sandero 1.0 TCE with LPG installation and its competitors. The residual value of Sandero was 64.4%. purchase prices, Kii Rio 1.0 T-GDI M – 60.5 percent, Skoda Fabia 1.0 55.4 percent, Hyundai i20 1.0 T-GDi – 56.1 percent. Only Toyota Yaris 1.0 “keeps its price” better – 67.5%.

The cost of use is reduced to PLN 27,000. zlotys

It turns out that the residual value, ie how much the car loses in value, is equal to 50%. affects the total cost of vehicle ownership (TCO), the remaining 50 percent is the cost of fuel, inspections, repairs, etc. Eurotax calculations show that, due to the small loss of value, the total cost of using Dacia models over three years and at 45,000 miles. km can be as low as 27 thousand. PLN than competitive models.

Dacia marketing experts use this fact to promote the brand, emphasizing that used Dacia models, due to their attractiveness, often remain in the owner’s family or circle of close friends. Interestingly, dealers in Dacia showrooms do not offer discounts on new cars.

A discount? It’s in… Morocco

You can jokingly say that when asked about discounts, salespeople in Dacia showrooms answer that … the capital of Morocco. There are no discounts and this is company policy. It turns out that discounts stimulate sales for a while, but in the long run they lower the prices of used cars.

A simple example: we buy a car for PLN 100,000. PLN, and after a few months the importer lowers the price to PLN 80,000. zlotys. In this case, our car will lose its value by not 10% after a year. and about 28 percent (20% from discounts plus 8% from depreciation). In lieu of discounts, Dacia offers cheap factory LPG engines for all models, a five-year warranty, five-year inspections, maintenance insurance and attractive financing for the purchase of the vehicle.

Dacia showrooms – top marks in WTS

A separate, but very important issue is the quality of customer service in showrooms. In this year’s Main Showroom Test, Dacia took 4th place with a score of 92.9%. – only 1.3 percent less than the winner, Renault. Dacia showrooms achieved a top score of 100 percent in the test.
