Audi A3 with faulty seat belt tensioner – that sounds awful. The Volkswagen Group has released a document recalling select versions (including the S3) from 2021 and 2022 that were offered for the American market.

The manufacturer’s internal investigation showed that the system may not achieve the intended ‘hold’ level during a crash. This, of course, can have serious consequences for the health and life of the driver and passengers.

The first mention of the problem appeared more than seven months ago – January 10 this year. Then it is Audi RS3 crash test in the South Korean market it was found that the tensile strength of the seat belt was too low.

The German manufacturer contacted the seller of this part and it quickly became clear that a real problem was occurring. A total of 2,221 Audi A3s, which were produced between July 26, 2021 and January 26, 2022, were withdrawn.
