Regardless of the manufacturer they work for, dealers (those who determine the prices of our cars, among other things) do everything to make the choice of buyers as easy as possible. The Cupra electric compact and the VW ID.3’s cousin, The Born, are no exception to this rule. Oh, another good news, they also took into account the fact that electricity competition does not hesitate to lower its prices.
All under €40,000
Revised, the range now includes only one engine, more powerful at 230 hp (from 204 hp). Only one finish is offered and it has a lot of equipment: bucket seats, 19 rims, 12″ main screen, reversing camera, etc. Finally, apart from the options, the only choice you have left is that of the battery. There is no change from the point of view here, there are two: the first of 58 kWh with a range of 422 km, the second larger of 77 kWh giving a good autonomy of 550 km.
The good news is that the latter does not cost more. Only €900 separates them. And both are priced under €40,000, which makes the Cupra the only 100% electric car on the market to offer a range of 550 kilometers under €40,000. True, but the competition is not far behind. The MG4 with a 77 kWh battery is also offered with 520 km and costs (slightly) less: €39,490. The great advantage of Born, its European production that allows it to be eligible in France for the ecological bonus, the details of which we finally have!
