Audi R8 GT: once a pioneer, today a collector product
Today, the Audi R8 has come a long way in the Olympus of high-end sports cars. The basis for this was laid in 2010 by the R8, which had 333 units. GT – with more power, less weight, ceramic brakes and a flexible coilover suspension with continuous hands.
The basic ingredients seemed like a well-known and tasty recipe, but editor Stefan Helmreich was outraged by the inconsistency in which Audi had addressed the issue: “We would let it pass as a beginner’s fault. But a parking beper? One Clubsport car? Oh my goodness! ”
Audi customers do not like it if it is very naked and more consistent, as they are accustomed from the GT3 RS. However, he has GT about 100 kg weighed – with 35 hp set at 525 valid so far. (One Audi, two engines: MTM Bimoto)
In 3.7 seconds to 100 km / h
With all-wheel drive and a six-speed gearbox (as in the R8 LMS), the driving experience was still exciting, even if more was possible.
What is possible without a heavy four-wheel-drive vehicle, Audi only tried as a second outcome and successor. Our 3.7 seconds measured up to 100 was enough to make it GT3 RS based on longitudinal dynamics. Of course, also because he gives himself all the comfort of the thigh and does not try to rush forward being pulled by all fours.
