Updated Audi S3: ‘hot hatch’ and ‘hot notch’ according to Audi

Thanks to a large number of improvements, the Audi S3 is now better than ever. More power, torque converter and new technological highlights ensure sporty performance and impressive handling. Visually, the updated Audi S3 can be recognized by a sporty front end, a stylish diffuser and a four-pipe performance exhaust system. The Audi S3 will be available at Dutch dealerships from this summer, both as a Sportback and as a Limousine.

Thanks to the refinement of the model, the Audi S3 has a more modern and sophisticated look. The six-sided, frameless Singleframe grille has a new design that appears flatter and wider. The L-shaped detail emphasizes the grille, which – together with the angular air intakes on the sides – emphasizes the dynamic character of the S3. A striking front spoiler and two vertical pillars – inspired by motorsport – visually reduce the S3 even further. The rear is also stronger than before thanks to the new bumper. The sporty look is completed by four tailpipes, another feature of the S model. The optional exhaust system, which produces a fuller sound, has titanium silencers. Additionally, the car’s progressive design is emphasized by new expressive metallic finishes, including District Green, Ascari Blue and Progressive Red. For the first time, Daytona gray is also available in a matte finish.

More power
With 245 kW (333 hp) and 420 Nm of torque, the S3 is more powerful than ever. As part of the product upgrade, the TFSI 2.0 receives a power increase of 23 hp and 20 Nm more torque. As a result, the Audi S3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.7 seconds. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h. The engine and transmission of the updated Audi S3 are now even sportier. Thanks to the firm compression of the clutch plates, the seven-speed S tronic now enables even faster starts. In addition, the shifting time under full load is halved and the engine speed under partial load increases when the transmission is in position D, resulting in a very quick response.

Torque split
Following the example of the Audi RS3, a torque splitter is now also available in the updated S3, increasing agility and stability. This technology enables a completely different torque distribution between the rear wheels. The torque divider uses an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch on each drive axle to efficiently distribute torque between the rear wheel in and out of bends, depending on driving conditions and the selected Audi drivetrain.

An S sport suspension is standard on the S3, while the optional S sport suspension and adaptive dampers are tuned specifically for the torque converter and Audi’s respective drivetrain variants. The Audi S3 comes standard with 18-inch 225/40 wheels. Two new 19-inch 235/35 rims are available as an option, with performance tires that have been optimized for dry road surfaces and contribute to improved braking behavior.

The choice of light
Like the updated Singleframe grille, the light design is very smooth, which further emphasizes the width of the Audi S3. The 24-pixel elements that make up the digital daylight in LED and Matrix LED lights are now arranged in three rows on the top edge of the housing. For the first time in the A3 series models, it is now possible to select and switch between four illuminated digital daytime signatures in the MMI. The taillights also feature a new taillight design and a new home/leave home function.

Sports chic
Along with the stunning exterior, the interior has also been significantly improved. Many changes have been made, from the design of the gear lever and air vents to the introduction of decorative fabric and new interior lights. All these features show precision in detail and emphasize the progressive and technical appearance of the car. An interesting new design feature is the fabric panel on the front doors with 300 laser-cut perforations and indirect lighting behind it. Together they create a powerful flow of light that is also visible when locking and unlocking the car. This makes the illuminated fabric panel a unique design experience.

The interior of the S3 models is characterized by a black color with silver accents. Black headliners, stainless steel pedals, illuminated door sills with aluminum inserts with S logo and aluminum interior trim emphasize the car’s sporty character. The three-part leather sports steering wheel, which is folded down, has multifunction buttons and new chrome steering wheel paddles. Sports seats with integrated headrests and large side bolsters provide more lateral support. In addition to Dinamica microfiber, a new technical design fabric is available for decorative inlays, as well as aluminum and carbon fiber.

Comfort thanks to technology
The updated Audi S3 is ‘connected’ thanks to its many services, optional functions and in-car programs. A 10.1-inch touchscreen, Audi cockpit and wireless charger are standard. Other optional features include Audi’s MMI navigation, with a full connectivity portfolio and access to the app store, which allows the driver to use a range of apps directly on the car’s screen. Selected apps are installed in the S3’s infotainment system, without detour via the user’s smartphone. Users can also control their apps through voice commands. Work-on-Demand ensures a high level of flexibility. A total of five infotainment features can be added online via the myAudi app, even after the car has been purchased.

The Audi S3 can be ordered from Audi dealerships from the second quarter of 2024 as a Sportback and as a Limousine, and will be available from Dutch Audi dealers from this summer. More information, specifications and pricing will be announced at market launch.
