2025 Acura MDX gets touchscreen, built-in Google, and Bang & Olufsen audio

Acura is finally updating its infotainment system with a touchscreen, marking the beginning of the end for one of the most unpopular interfaces on the market.

On Tuesday, the 2025 Acura MDX debuted a more user-friendly infotainment system and redesigned design elements. It will arrive at retailers in May, and prices will be announced closer to production.

The touchscreen-based infotainment system makes room for a 12.3-inch touchscreen that rises from the dashboard and matches the size of the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The screen can be split to allow drivers to use or monitor multiple native apps/controls or split them for a standard wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto screen. Built-in Google also comes standard, and allows owners to sign in to their Google accounts for connected services. Over-the-air software updates will help keep the infotainment system current in the future.

The touchscreen is also moved forward on the dashboard to make it out of the driver’s reach.

A new 31-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system will be available with 12 of those speakers sitting in the ceiling. An 11-speaker audio system will be standard, and a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen central system will be available.

Acura is improving the design of the MDX

It will take a keen eye to see the exterior changes of the 2025 MDX. Updates are available to the front bumper, grille and lighting elements, as well as new 20- and 21-inch wheel designs.

The front grille and logo look big, but it’s a little sloppy. The grille loses its trim, which makes the Acura logo appear larger. The S-Type, A-Spec, and A-Spec Advance all now share the front fascia of the S-Type model.

The headlights shed some of their chrome bits for a darker, duller look, and the taillights are tinted for a darker look.

Inside, the center console now has easy access to the wireless charging pad with the removal of the touch pad and a reconfigured center console. A shiny piano black finish that is susceptible to scratches remains.

Mid-trim Advance and S-Spec advance models feature front seats of the outgoing S-spec model with increased bolstering and massage functions.

Every MDX will continue to offer three rows of seven-seat seating. The middle part of the second row can be removed. The third row remains the child’s area with little leg, knee, leg and head room.
