BrightDrop Zevo electric vehicles coming from Ryder fleet

The latest Brightdrop Zevo 600 range of electric vehicles (EVs) were recently launched at Ryder facilities across the US.

Ryder System, Inc. is an American transportation and logistics company best known for its fleet of commercial rental trucks. Known as “Ryder,” the company specializes in shipping, logistics and transportation management.

In April 2023, it announced plans to introduce 4,000 BrightDrop Zevo 600 and Zevo 400 vehicles to Ryde’s fleet by 2025. Ryder planned to include BrightDrop electric vans in the rental and leasing fleet. The shipping and logistics company is expected to receive 200 BrightDrop Zevo EVs by the end of this year.

“Electrified commercial fleets can reduce emissions without sacrificing range, safety, or performance,” said Steve Hornyak, BrightDrop’s chief commercial officer. “By adding BrightDrop EVs to its fleet offerings, Ryder is helping to enable electrification for companies large and small.”

As of September 20, 2023, BrightDrop delivered its first batch of Zevo 600 electric forklifts to Ryder. The electric vans will be added to Ryder’s California, Texas, and New York facilities. BrightDrop Zevos are available for rental and come with convenient car insurance coverage, round-the-clock roadside assistance, single-source maintenance, geotagging to track/track vehicle usage and other features. Ryder hosted “Ride&Drive” events showcasing BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric vehicles and EV chargers from ChargePoint. ChargePoint provides the charging infrastructure for Ryder devices. The events allowed customers to familiarize themselves with BrightDrop electric vans.

“Working with a company like BrightDrop puts Ryder at the forefront of identifying and testing emerging advanced vehicle technologies, and we’re excited to integrate these new EVs into our fleet,” says Tom Havens, Ryder’s president of fleet management solutions. “Through our partnerships with technology providers and equipment manufacturers, Ryder can provide commercial fleet management solutions that drive sustainability and operational goals for our customers.”
