Auto Usa, here are the top 10 sales that are still dominated by the pick up. But Tesla…

Rome, January 7 Pickup trucks led the best-selling cars in America last year but, for the first time, Tesla entered the top 10 as the shock of the Covid era continues among other popular models. Despite posting its lowest sales since 2012, the Ford F-Series is the best-selling car in the country for the 41st year and the best-selling truck in America for the 46th year in a row. The Chevrolet Silverado regained its second place after being overtaken by the Ram pickup truck in 2021.

Data and analytics firm Motor Intelligence reports that the Tesla Model Y electric car was the sixth best-selling car in the country in 2022, beating out the GMC Sierra pickup truck, the Honda CR-V crossover and other long-selling models.

Tesla does not report regional or individual vehicle sales, so the data is an estimate. Overall, Tesla reported that it delivered about 1.25 million Model Y and Model 3 vehicles worldwide in 2022. The Model 3 ranked 13th in sales with 211,641 units, according to Motor Intelligence.

“It’s no surprise that Tesla is so high,” said Michelle Krebs, senior analyst at Cox Automotive. “The brand, despite all the news and stuff, still dominates the EV market and dominates the luxury market. A lot of that power comes from the Model Y.”

Parts and supply issues since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic have led to frequent plant shutdowns at various times for automakers, leading to shaky car sales levels over the past two years.

“We’ve seen a lot of changes in sales and inventory,” Krebs said. “In 2022, the year started with very high demand … but we saw things change at the end of the year. Demand seemed to ease a bit as inventory, not on board, was increasing.

Auto industry executives and analysts are cautiously optimistic that the U.S. industry will recover further this year, regardless of fears of a recession, rising interest rates and other economic issues. The industry was estimated to sell between 13.7 million and 13.9 million vehicles last year, according to industry analysts. A typical year before the pandemic saw sales of over 17 million.

Here are the 10 best-selling cars in the U.S. by unit sales for 2022, according to Motor Intelligence.
