Autohaus Hotopp: 40 years of Mazda dealership in Velbert

Velbert. If you say “Hotopp” in Velbert, “Mazda” immediately comes to mind. The fact that the Velbert Hotopp family is closely associated with the Japanese car manufacturer was now shown in a small ceremony in which the Hotopp family and long-term employees were awarded bronze medals for 40 years of Mazda contract cooperation.

Unfortunately, the relationship with the Japanese car maker doesn’t quite go back to the beginning of the Hotopp era. This has lasted more than a decade – and therefore as long as Mazda has existed in Germany: 50 years. Hotopp’s 50th anniversary has already been celebrated: report here.

The first Mazda models were not sold in Hotopp’s glass showroom; the car dealership was further afield, next to the gas station and attached workshop on Werdener Straße, where Manfred Hotopp lived out of his passion for cars and the technology behind them. However, the main business quickly changed when the company moved to the car dealership in Borsigstrasse, the current location, in 1988. The “fall of the wall” ensured full order books at that time. “Everybody wanted to have cars,” Hotopp says, recalling the beginnings of his car sales.

What attracted him to the new car from Japan was the 626 model: “On the trunk there was no bare metal like the competition at the time,” recalls Hotopp. “Everything was well covered and there were shelves you could use for all the luggage, for Manfred Hotopp it was a “convincing package” that he was able to deliver to men and women with confidence and self-confidence. And so it remains to this day.

“Most of the Mazda brands are family businesses that have been with Mazda for decades,” reports Thomas Fritz, about the network of dealers who sell these beautiful cars from the Far East. The Hotopp car dealership is a good example of this, according to Mazda’s regional sales manager. This model has also proven to be a particular advantage in recent international conflicts, reports Fritz. Especially when there were waiting times due to delivery restrictions, this was easily resolved with close customer communication. “Customer loyalty is the foundation of a good business,” says Fritz.

Hotopp will continue to be measured by good customer service in the future. The Hotopp family does business every day and is personally available to their customers. With daughter Stefanie, who returned to the family business after studying business management and specializing in the automotive industry, this should also be successful for future generations.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the contractual partner, customers will also receive a candy that is intended to simplify their purchasing decision. Anyone who decides to buy a new Mazda car during the promotional period will receive “One Free Option” – meaning the most expensive device is free. Hotopp car dealership also offers a free “Mazda Care” maintenance package (for a total of 3 years and up to 25,000 km annually).

The Hotopp team will also be at the motor show in Wülfrath on Sunday, May 5 with the entire Mazda model range and look forward to your visit.
