Central Michigan University’s baseball squad experienced a setback in their quest for a series victory at Ohio on Sunday, as the Bobcats emerged with a 2-1 triumph.

The Chippewas (14-14, 4-3 Mid-American Conference) threatened to draw even on several occasions, but were ultimately thwarted by a determined Bobcat defense.

CMU’s bats were largely stifled throughout the contest, as the team only managed to register a single run on five hits. The Chippewas’ lone run came courtesy of a Nick Regnier RBI-single in the sixth inning.

The Chippewas had chances to even the score, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. CMU had runners in scoring position in the eighth, ninth, and tenth innings, but couldn’t find the clutch hit needed to capture the victory.

Chris Denton and Dylan Rosa split time on the mound for the Chippewas, with Denton surrendering one earned run on five hits, while Rosa allowed just one run on four hits.

The Chippewas will now look ahead to their upcoming series against Ball State later this week, as they look to rebound from Sunday’s defeat.
