Loris Baz will continue to compete in the World Superbike Championship in 2023 with the Bonovo Action BMW team. The Frenchman has extended his factory contract with BMW Motorrad for a second year on the M 1000 RR in WorldSBK.

Loris Baz will continue to be part of the BMW Motorrad Motorsport family in 2023 and will resume as a BMW Motorrad factory rider in the FIM Superbike World Championship. It will be his second season with the Bonovo Action BMW team. His new teammate in the German team will be the American Garrett Gerloff.

The 29-year-old Frenchman and Bonovo Action BMW are in their first season together and have worked well together and found success from the start. The former MotoGP rider regularly finished in the top ten and in the previous race weekend at Magny-Cours Baz fought for a podium position.

Loris Baz: “I am very happy to drive for BMW and the Bonovo Action BMW team again next year, I have never doubted that. When I joined, the goal was to be involved in the long term and to be better every year. I feel very good in the team and BMW is working for harder than anyone to achieve the goal we all have. I’m also happy to have a great guy like Garrett as a teammate. I also have a great relationship with Eugene, and it’s very important to the team that we feel like a family. I’m sure it will be the same for Garrett as well. The aim now is to close 2022 strongly and start the 2023 season with a good foundation. Thanks to everyone at BMW, Jürgen Röder and Michael Galinski for the trust they have placed in me.

Marc Bongers – BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director: “Loris is an important part of our BMW factory driver family and we are delighted that he will drive the Bonovo Action BMW again in 2023. You could tell from the start that the chemistry between him, the team and his fellow factory drivers was great. With his experience, the performance and personality, Loris adds a lot to the Bonovo Action BMW team and our entire WorldSBK project. It is great news that this exciting partnership will continue next season. We are confident that we will continue to work together.”

Jürgen Röder – Owner Bonovo Action BMW: “I am happy that Loris is staying with us. We are very happy with that and I think Loris Baz and his teammate Garrett Gerloff will make a very strong duo next year when we can push hard with BMW. In terms of driver ability we have two good guys and also the team at the back will remain the same next year. For example, in 2023 we will have a well-trained team that has done a good job this year. We will also have Loris, Garrett and Eugene Laverty – in the role of driver coach – by our side. Eugene gets along really well with both operators so I think the partnership will be good in that regard as well. That encourages me to look forward in a positive way.”

Loris Baz will race this weekend on his BMW M 1000 RR during the eighth round of the World Superbike Championship at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
