Chase Sexton (KTM): Crash caused by a rock / US Supercross

American Red Bull KTM racer Chase Sexton, along with Ken Roczen, caused a stir among fans and crew at the Supercross in Nashville – now the cause of the accident is known.

The 450 class final was a busy one in Nashville. At the front, Suzuki driver Ken Roczen (29) caused a fatal crash at the end of the washboard in the pursuit of victory, which was caused by a technical error. Interesting events also took place in the background, the main actor being Red Bull KTM factory rider Chase Sexton.

After a poor start, the 24-year-old had to fight his way through the field to finish in 6th place, the defending champion suddenly flying too far on a hill which was intended as a brake line. landed on the opposite slope of the next obstacle. Sexton had to be treated by paramedics after hitting his abdomen on the handle and flying into the top row. Unlike Roczen, Sexton was able to leave the field on his own two feet.

It is now clear that Sexton’s departure was also caused by a technical error. “I’m off,” shouted the man from Illinois, who was fourth in qualifying and finished the heat in third place. “A stone broke the throttle body on the engine. This caused the gas to jam at the beginning of this one combination – which ended my evening. It was violent, but nothing was broken.”

Sexton lost a lot of points in the standings as a result of the crash in Nashville and is in fourth place before the final three events of the 2024 Supercross season. His gap with Nashville winner Jett Lawrence (Honda) has increased to 40 points. Sexton is currently in points seven behind third-placed Eli Tomac (Yamaha). The next stop on the calendar is next Saturday in Philadelphia.
