This sports car is not really a McLaren. It was a tuner designed as a tribute to the F1 GTR from the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.

A very rare example of McLaren LM 25 Launcher will be auctioned in May RM Sotheby’s. With a value of more than 1.5 million euros, this sports car thus joins an exclusive club of only a few cars whose price exceeds one million euros. Quite naturally, however, it did not come from the manufacturer’s factories. In fact, it was Lanzante, a British car manufacturer and restorer, who was responsible for creating it as a memorial to McLaren’s victory in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.

A series of sports cars designed with reference to the McLaren F1 GTR of the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In addition to its success in Formula 1, McLaren has distinguished itself several times in the Sarthe car races. The most memorable success of the British manufacturer began in 1995. At that time, it was the British team. Kokusai Kaihatsu Tournament who won the title thanks to drivers Yannick Dalmas, JJ Lehto and Masanori Sekiya. As for the sports car that allowed them to achieve this victory, it has gone down in history: a McLaren F1 GTR.
In 2020, producer Lanzante decided to create a car referring to this 1995 racing car. This is the series of LM25, from which seven examples came. This number was not chosen at random. It represents the seven McLaren F1 GTRs that took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995. To put it another way, Launcher has made one of the most modern cars in the history of motor racing. To achieve this, however, the British tuner did not completely build its seven models from scratch.
The company instead used seven modern cars from McLaren (released from 2020). Each of these seven cars is based on a different McLaren model. The producer used a 600LTof a 765LTof a Senna and the Senna GTR. The result is a unique creation in the world, sought after by certain collectors.

F1 GTR certified for the road

The sports car being auctioned by RM Sotheby’s is the LM25 from Lanzante based on McLaren Senna GTR. This unique car in the world is of course not just the start of the color of the base model of the British manufacturer. The producer did everything to get McLaren as close as possible F1 GTR used during the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The engine has not undergone any modifications, so owners can still benefit from McLaren’s latest technology. However, the interior has been completely modified to mimic the 1995 F1 GTR. To put it another way, it is a significantly improved version of the Senna GTR. Lanzante’s LM 25 is a true dedication to the British manufacturer’s victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Unlike the F1 GTR, it is above all possible drive on the road.
